BBQ and update on growth

It was a lovely sunny evening so we bought some fish and BBQ'd it at the allotment while we weeded. Then settled down with a few beers.
This really is the good life.

Angela the guard Pig

Rather than the standard garden gnome we have gone for Angela, the guard Pig. Here she is, snuffling around under the apple tree.

A problem with black fly

The broad beans have been doing brilliantly, getting really big and covered in lovely purple flowers. Now they are covered in black fly. Literally covered. We got some bug killer but it doesn't seem to have helped much.

I think the key is to spray the plants early on before the flys take a hold. The spray seems to be helping the runner beans but I fear it might be too late for the broad beans.

It's a courgette

The courgette plant has its first baby on the way.
