The big dig

And so the digging has began. We managed to clear weeds from the majority of the plot in one evening session, and it looks so much better already. We had the company of a little Robin, who was waiting patiently on the post, to then sweep in and grab the worms as they surfaced.

The plan

Here is the rough plan we have for the layout of the plot. Looks good on paper, now let's see how it works in practice. We plan to have a 'working' area at the top, with a storage box and a compost bin, then 4 or 5 separate beds to plant into. A small bed at the bottom end will be for wild flowers.

Plot 14A

We got the key to our allotment at Fairview Road Allotment. A modest half plot, with a blossoming apple tree, an already ludicrously big rhubarb plant and not much else.

Time to get our hands dirty...
